I've heard alot of different theories and conspiracy theories from the Republicans on why the Dow has taken this huge drop. This really does look more and more like Herbert Hoover and his presidency. They really haven't the slightest clue on what to do? Do they? Really now what is Bush and his cronies going to do? He is going to leave on the same note as his dad did. With an economy on the ropes. We pissed off the Arabs and watched them eff with oil prices, jacking up our gas prices. Not just jacking them up slightly but grossly. Whats our response? Oh hey lets start doing what we should have been doing all along, drilling our own oil. You know "Drill baby Drill". But oh wait, money hungry pigs running the oil companies in our country don't want to drill when the price of oil is to low. They won't make record setting profits, just decent profits. Well anyways didn't everything start turning to crap after gas prices skyrocketed? Food prices went up along with everything else. Now that oil prices have dropped, will we keep on drilling? Are we going to be stupid again and stop? Screw Alaska. Are we going to keep drilling production high in North Dakota? Gas prices have dropped again. If gas prices stay down maybe that will help the economy stabilize again. People will have more in their pocketbook again, trucking companies won't charge as much for transporting goods, etc. Yeah we stuck it to the Arabs under Bush pretty good the last 8 years, and by the looks of it they got the best of him. OK....I'm chillin. You have been talking about a conspiratorial October surprise in the stock market.
- I suggested that the slide started much sooner.
You suggested that Obama should say something to stabilize the markets.
- I asked why Bush hasn't (and isn't) done so.
I wish that you would respond to me before changing the topic. You apparently believe that I am somehow indifferent to the market losses. I am suggesting that what we are witnessing is the onset of a global recession which neither Bush nor Obama, Republican nor Democrat party can solve simply by thinking happy thoughts. I am also suggested that hang tightly onto you hats for the next 18 months for a very bumpy ride. Reply...
Chill Murph... you have no idea how much any of us have invested, or if we have taken it all out to hide.. :)
We are most certainly not wackos.... speak only for yourself... :) Reply...
Perhaps you are all wackos....or comedians....except comedians are suppose to be funny....so that rules out comedians. You are certainly not Wall Street mavens. I guess that leaves wackos. Reply...

excuse the big writing, my glasses are out in the car... so,
I think blmmcar has hit it right Murph... Obama could make a difference. And I do believe all I have heard and read that the stock market / housing thingi was slowly starting a long time ago, and the REPUBLICANS WARNED FRANK AND COX,,but alas" all was well" they said... so please murph, as much as I like you don't place 100 % blame on republicans.
The rich are very smart right now to get out... and yes
OH YES, I blame prez elect OBAMA-nation for the stocks continuing to slide.
I believe (mark this on your calendar) that by obamas first year the dow will be about 5,000... or less...

I am judge Hussein based on what he says that he is going to do. This is all that I have. I can hope that he does not do the things that he says that he will do, but why would he say that he plans to do things that he has no intention of doing?
I am not alone, the rich are already taking their money out of the sock market. They are taking it out and hiding it so that Hussein cannot take it like he said that he would. The market is reacting to the threat of socialism/communism (pick which ever term is less offensive to you).

(fundamentals OF the market) or (market fundamentals) Reply...
No. I do not believe the Obama is so powerful that a mere "I will not raise taxes" speech will change the fundamentals market. If you look at a market chart (google DJIA, then select...say...a 5 year display) you will see that the "slide" began in late 2007, not October 2008 as Rush would have you believe. If a quick statement from the President of the U.S. were all it took to send the market ever upward, why didn't President Bush do so last year and prevent the slide we have been experiencing for the last 13/14 months? Because that only happens in "Rushland". Reply...
Murphy, so you are saying you think Obama couldn't say something right now to change things? I thought he was all powerful?
lets chat...

PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA COULD STOP THIS STOCK MARKET DOWN SLIDE WITH ONE SENTENCE.... ? WHAT YOU ASK?
OBAMA COULD PROMISE NOT TO RAISE TAXES WHILE THE COUNTRY IS IN THIS STOCK MARKET DOWNTURN.... CAN HE, WILL HE , SHOULD HE...?

RUGBY, how much would you like to wager on that? How would we know anyway, with the media in his pocket..... :) Reply...
It's highly unlikely that Obama will suck as a president as much as Cheney/Bush has sucked as a president. We can only go up from here.

You are right Neon he is not president YET.
But the promises he made on the campaign trail are already falling through the cracks and that is what I am commenting about. Reply...

jordi- I guarantee you if we outlawed driving we would not hear another word about high gas prices now would we? Our country would save hundreds of billions of dollars a year from going overseas to hostile governments. Think of how happy the Envirowhackos would be if driving were outlawed. Global warming would reverse itself and Utopia would unfold before all of mankind.
Do I want to outlaw it? No. I do want those who want to start outlawing more things to think of how far an idiot (ME) can take any subject. The more we allow extremists to force their views on the majority the worse things will get. Remember our congress is not elected by their intelligence otherwise we would have a whole slew of different people in there now wouldn't we? Reply...

Ok so are you willing to impose the same penalties to those who are dangerous drivers in other ways? Such as took medication and drove under the influence even mistakenly? How about the drivers on their cell phones, which have proven more dangerous than drunk drivers? What about someone with a medical condition that causes a blackout similar to drunk driving? I mean like a diabetic reaction, epilepsy, and such. These kind of conditions are just as dangerous. What about those who have brats in the car distracting them from their driving task? Let's not forget those idiots that drive around with live animals climbing all over them and causing distractions. Drinking coffee is dangerous too so let's make it a crime. Fast food is a triple deadly threat, it distracts the driver, it is unhealthy, and it leaves the hands greasy which can cause a loss of grip on the wheel.
Or are you just against alcohol? I mean come on now let's be fair, if you are wanting to stop one dangerous driving situation you should be willing to stop them all. Which will lead to the fact that driving itself is a danger and would need to be outlawed! Reply...

Oh how I hate that the youth aren't more informed. I agree they (drunks) think they're cool. I think they need to start revoking more of their rights. Their license (along with voting privileges and freedom) should be suspended for at least two years for the first offense. The fines should be at least $2,000 yes, for the first offense. They should also have their mugshot on the front page of the paper so everyone can see it. Once they're out of jail, they should be on a weekly payment plan until the fine is paid, so that means they'll have to work. If they miss two payments, they're back in jail. Treat them more like the criminals they are and stop slapping them on the back of their hands. These folks are killing innocent people. I'm sure some of the families of loved ones who were killed by these repeat offender rejects wished the idiot was in jail so their loved one could still be here.
I agree they need to bring the training right to the school. Take the cool out of drinking, driving drunk, cigarettes, drugs, etc. Reply...
